So, your phone dropped in water. Now don't waste a second to take it out of water. I know that's obvious but that's really important. Water takes no time in getting into your phone. Your phone needs to be dried as quickly as possible.
Hold onto your nerves. Don't panic. Your phone will probably not be too damaged if you get it out of water on time.

Remove Battery

Removing your battery is the most important step in saving your phone. It is important to cut all power sources in order to avoid short circuit.
If you don't know how to remove the battery, then quickly see the phone manual or consult someone who has any technical knowledge.

Remove Sim Card

If your phone uses a sim card, then it's important to remove it from your phone. Sim card carries important data such as your contacts. For some people, the sim card is more valuable than the phone itself.

Dry your phone

Even a single drop of water can damage your phone. Water can ruin your device through corrosion and short circuit. So, it's important to properly dry it.
  • Wipe out your phone with a dry cloth or paper. Don't shake it too much in order to avoid the water from seeping inside. Gently wipe off to remove any water.
  • People commonly use hair dryers to dry the phone. But I recommend that you use a vaccum cleaner as using a hair dryer can force moisture further into small components with the air blowing inward. The vaccum cleaner is more helpful in sucking out any moisture. Just be careful to keep your device a few inches away from the vaccum cleaner.

Leave your Phone for atleast 24 hours

This step is highly recommended to ensure that your phone is free from all moisture.
  • Leave your phone overnight in a bowl of uncooked rice or desiccant as these substance have high affinity for water, helping your phone to dry properly.
  • You can also leave your phone on any type of absorbent material like the a dry napkin or towel. Remember, your primary goal is get your phone free of all humidity.
